let’s get this party started

Friends,

If you’re reading this, I say good day to you and I thank you for checking out my blog. I write to you today, a smelly and bearded vagabond, from a wifi cafe/massage patio in the small town of Pai in northern Thailand. My feet have been thoroughly massaged by the strong yet tender hands of this establishment, and it seems as good a time as any to begin sharing my adventures with those who care to know them.

I’m well aware that this blog was promised to be up and ready ages ago, and I offer my sincere apologies for the delay. My only defense is that the beginning of this aventure has been fraught with so many new experiences and people, so much for body and mind to process, that finding time to chronicle my days in a journal, post pictures to facebook, skype with anxious parents, respond to the torrents of emails from everyone, and manage other web related admin have thwarted my efforts to begin. “A poor excuse!” one might say, and to that person I can only bow my head respectfully, beg pardon, while privately plotting revenge of the extreme sort.

That said, I shall endeavor hence forth to post regularly the tales of my plunge into this backward, lawless frontier. I know not how said posts will materialize, what shape they may take, whether they will traverse along certain themes, trends, or perhaps coalesce as a smattering of haphazard anecdotes delivered hastily between massages. Time will tell.

I ask, humbly, for any and all to offer feedback, for this is unlike anything I’ve done before, and it is my deepest wish that these posts serve my faithful readers as a mild form of entertainment at the very least. The worst of all crimes would be time spent on dull material, so please, don’t hold back!

Thus far my trip has been marked by dutiful disorganization, so forthcoming posts will likely not reflect my experiences in realtime. Details about my current whereabouts, stops over the past couple of weeks, as well as plans for the imminent future will hopefully leap from my cortex to the interweb over the next few days.

Until then I again say good day. And to friends and family in the northeast facing a mighty blizzard, please be safe and stay warm – I hope you find some way to enjoy the snow.

Much love to all,

Miles Harris
